Prince Rukasu is the second-born prince of the magical Jivantish, the Keepers of Life, who once maintained the balance on the continent of Orielo. However, thirty years ago, they sealed themselves away in their flying kingdom. In a twist of fate, Rukasu finds himself stranded on Orielo without his powers and without a way back home. At the same time, local mercenary Leon discovers that his own powers are awakening. They might not see eye to eye, yet Rukasu and Leon must team up to reverse their situation in a war-ravaged land, all while Azrail’s shadow looms over them and the entire realm. Forest Fires is the first installment in the “Tales from Orielo” series. Orielo is a young adult fantasy adventure series inspired by Nordic mythology. Nicke Manninen is a Finnish author from Pori. Forest Fires is the author’s debut novel, which he completed as part of his university thesis. Orielo and its characters come from his childhood, and he finally decided to share the story with the world, aiming to uplift queer and neurodivergent voices and show that epic quests and happy endings are for everyone.
