Thomas, Out of body awareness

The triangle is an ancient symbol and represents a means of understandinga complex problem where there is fundamental unity despite differences in emphasis. Out-of-body awareness can be understood as one corner of a triangle with the mind and the soul at the opposite poles. The mind reflects the development of the soul through an earthly life where each moment presents a choice for good or evil. The mind is that part of the soul that discriminates between good and evil. How do we know we are actually doing good? This is a difficult question that has faced humanity individually and socially throughout our time on earth. We think of the mind as being attached to a body, in particular to the brain. However, the mind can also be disembodied and at these times our awareness is? out-of-body?. Our soul both individual anhd collective soul can only be known through our out-of-body awareness. In fact most of our knowledge, creativity, healing and life force comes to us through this out-of-body awareness. The appreciation of out-of-body awareness could be termed neo platonic. Since the time of Plato and Aristotle our western culture has wrestled with the duality of mind and soul. Our culture today in hte 21st century probably represents the highest point of achievement of the rational-logical mind through scientific achievements. However, we cannot continue to pursue that extreme trajectory ignoring all the while the forces that connect us to each other and the earth we depend on. The path ahead will be shaped by how much we are able to reign in our extreme materialistic pursuits with a greater awareness of the energy that connects us and provides us with our humanity? our soul.
